iTunes Connection?

Ok, I wasn't sure what area to put this question, so feel free to move it.

I recently bought an iPod, and of course it came with iTunes. Now iTunes automatically will try to connect to their Music Store and such. But out of curiosity, does iTunes send any information regarding the music you already have on your computer? I mean, I'm pretty sure it doesn't...but I'd figure I'd ask first. :)

YOu can change that setting and I'm sure someone knows, Microsoft and many others have been caught spying on customers. If they really watched carefully I would be in big trouble.
