Im looking for a tool that can list and kill running DLLs and EXEs in background.

Task Killer (www.rsdsoft.com) is found here. This app is handy but shareware. Any freeware task managers you guys reccommend? Ive been a big fan of this app but I cant seem to "make" it free...

If you are not on XP, the close dialog window is next to useless.

Did you ever try process viewer2000? Get it here http://www.blehq.org/

You could use msconfig (unless you have Windows 2000, in which case you would have to download it.) Also, for 2000 and XP, you can use services.msc to stop a bunch of stuff.

Yeah task manager is last resort now but its total crap...dont even tell me that i should use it....

I need some app to list all files and programs running, always have to see if some half dead program is still living or a trojan is there.

I like Process Explorer by sysinternals. When I went to find the link, it seems that i have an old version, but i'm sure the new one is only better! Check it out: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

Seems to describe what you wanted.

here are some free programs that do what you are asking for:

1) Dependency Walker www.dependencywalker.com

2)DLL Archive www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/dllarch.htm

hope they help you;)

Last minute update....I managed to find a free version of Task Killer...completly forgot about versions 1.5 & 1.65.

TK pretty much runs from the tray and give s you a lists of EXEs to kill. BUT, Process Explorer and Task Viewer are both handy....definitely not forgetting.
