No, not the client. The website!

Why, you may ask?

http://movies.es5.com/

Click on "Download"

Then, you can choose from movies, music, programs, and some streams.

Now you can download off them, without even bothering to get their sub-par software. Ain't life grand?

Oh, and the speed is fairly good, too.

Thanks for the input there FrYGuY, but I am a hard headed old fart who is still skeptical. I will try harder to keep an open mind. ;)

All I'm sayin' is the speeds are pretty good. I'm gettin' 60KBps on each of the two test files.

Plus, there's the added benefit of not having any software, other than your browser, open.

(There does, however, seem to be a limit of two files concurrent per IP)

I tried it before but can never find the free streaming video channels they were offering. Any ideas where they are?

Click on the link, a flash video will come up, and direct downloads and streams will be available though the flash.

Hehe, I am just going to install the program w/o sharing/downloading files and enjoy the free streams. I wonder why the MPAA didn't go hard against ES5, they just gave a tiny warning to them.

wrong again, there is a link that allows you to visit their site and stream their movies without using their software...

MPAA hasn't decided to go after any file sharing program seriously yet. I bet they are waiting to see if RIAA falls on thier face or not.

Is ESV safe to use for just streaming? I wonder if you would be safe from the exploit Random Nut found if you didn't share. It's an interesting idea but I'm still too paranoid to try the program.

By the way, I found another response from SharePro, over at thebighack.com.

Let's see if I can get my link working:

http://www.thebighack.com

That's weird-- I'm not use to having to type bracket-url-bracket to get a link to work.

Same here. Plus tracking all the the reg files after I uninstalled the last time was major pain that lasted a few days.

True. I understand your skepticism, given the malicious code fiasco. I've been using ES5 since July, and I haven't had any problems with it, other than lack of content. I'm not spamming here, just adding my 2 cents.

Hey, if everone throws in their 2 cents, before ya know it we gots us a dollar!

No problem, bud. All opinions are welcome here as long as they stay civil.

ES5 has taken us on a long strange trip, some of us are a little worse for wear. Don't take it personal, if ES5 is your thing, go for it. :D

Thanx Rastagard. I always try to keep it civil.
ES5 is just one of my things, as I use a number of P2P programs.
It certainly has been an interesting journey for ES5!
Never a dull moment, it seems.

By the way, I love the UTC forums! :)

Thanks hilo. Pass the word about us. ;)

As rasta said, we invite different opinions, as long as they are presented fairly and with taste, and you have certainly done that. Speaking for myself only, I always try to listen to other opinions. I remember how many times in the past I have been wrong, (way more than I like to admit) so I always try to give benefit of the doubt. AS of now, I am still quite suspicious of ES5, but as I said, I try to remain open minded.
