Download the binary and simply copy and paste it into your eMule directory in Program Files. Windows should tell ask you if you want to replace the existing eMule.exe with the one you copied and pasted, just say yes. The next time you open eMule it will be the modded version (LSD)
Sometimes mods also come with other things such as server lists, this is optional, you can replace your current list if you like or keep it if you are happy with it. In either case I would copy and save both the old eMule.exe and anything else you opt to replace just in case you want to go back to the original. Just put them in a folder called Old eMule or something like that.

There are many "modified" versions of eMule. These are commonly called mods. Each has its own set of extra features and some may perform better for some people and not as well for others. This is why I suggested to thornyone that he back up his old version of eMule. You may want to try several different mods to see if you like them better than plain eMule.
A great place to find a lot of mods is PiRaNeTuS (http://www.piranetus.com/)
And of course the best place to find out what is available on the eDonkey (eMule is actually a mod of eDonkey) network is to go to ShareReactor (http://www.sharereactor.com) (be patient, it sometimes loads very slow) or Shareconnector. (http://www.shareconnector.com/)
