"Keeping data CDs in the dark for two years isn't a good idea. According to the Dutch magazine PC Active some CD-Rs degrade in months, even at room temperature without sunlight.

PC Active tested data disks from 30 manufacturers that were recorded 20 months ago. Several data CDs developed serious errors, or became virtually unreadable."

I'm not worried. I just ran scandisc in Nero CD-Speed and got 99.4% good and only 0.60% bad sectors on my backup copy of Windows 98SE. All my backup CD's are TDK 40x CDR's (with really cool American flag design on top) that I got at Compusa. They have light green recording dye on the bottom and were burned at their rated speed, I never burn CD's faster than what they're rated for. My CRW-F1 can't report C2 errors (although Nero infotool says it can) but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have any C2 errors either.
