"The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is the American Branch of a society which originated in England ... (and) ... believes national boundaries should be obliterated and one-world rule established."
- Carroll Quigley, member of Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), mentor to Bill Clinton, quote from “Tragedy and Hope”, 1966

"Now we really know why Senator Trent Lott was replaced. Not because he made an improper statement (and it was improper), but because he was NOT a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The Elite need to do many things within the next two years in order to complete the American Union, so they MUST have one of their own heading the U.S. Senate. The perfect replacement is Senator William (Bill) H. Frist, who was made a member of the CFR in 2002. Did they make him a member of the CFR because they knew that he would be the likely replacement for Trent Lott? Very likely."
- Conspiracy or Coincidence?

Looks like the CFR has done a masterful job since. Most Americans have no idea still who the CFR is and are being influenced to accept the UN, a North American Union, and a One World Government.

CFR President Richard Haass, on globalization and sovereignty:
”Globalization thus implies that sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker. [UN] States would be wise to weaken sovereignty in order to protect themselves, because they cannot insulate themselves from what goes on elsewhere. Sovereignty is no longer a sanctuary.”
”Our notion of sovereignty must therefore be conditional, even contractual, rather than absolute.”

The presidential candidates:
Hillary Clinton:
http://www.cfr.org/publication.html?id=6600 – Hillary Clinton at a CFR meeting, she talks about moving towards a global government in parts of it. The fact that she is allowed to go to a CFR meeting and give a speech says more about her views on foreign policy than anything.
http://clinton.senate.gov/news/statements/details.cfm?id=265807 And here she is again speaking at another CFR meeting on 10/31/06. This time on video. I know it’s long. You can watch it or not, but the point is she isn’t debating them. She supports them, just like her husband.
John Edwards:
http://stage.cfr.org/publication/13432/ - Here John Edwards gives a speech at CFR. If you read it, you will notice his speech emphasizes hardcore nation building and hardcore policing of the world.
Now here is Dick Cheney (I know he isn’t running). I wanted to leave this for last. Watch Cheney at a CFR meeting, getting a question from Rockefeller…and WATCH Cheney’s response. This will get you angry, especially after all you know about CFR.

So should we hope Fred Thompson won’t be like all of his other CFR peers? Is he really a conservative and not a globalist? Based on his voting patterns and his CFR membership it doesn’t look good.

CFR Stacks The Deck With Both Democrat And Republican Presidential Candidates
2004 was the year of the Skull & Bones presidential candidates, and now 2008 seems to be the year of the CFR presidential candidates. Democrat or Republican, it matters not which rook they choose to elect. We lose either way. The 2004 elections were marred by the stench of a fixed fight. Bush and Kerry both Yale Bonesmen and related by blood running for the presidency. Now the Council on Foreign Relations has nearly every presidential candidate in their pocket. We need to elect Ron Paul. Let's redeem America and restore the Constitution.

Another CFR US president guarantees more of the same costly foreign policy that protects corporate interests and isolates the US. Like his colleagues, Barack Obama's stated foreign policy intentions foment the long term militarization and balkanization of the middle east while resources will continue to be spent in deficit to finance an illegal foreign policy. Only when the control of the CFR is fully exposed will the voters have a real democratic choice.

Once again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdqKGUPIdp0), I am obliged to mention George Orwell and his novel, 1984. In the novel, Orwell describes the Youth League and the Spies, children in cahoots with the state who turn in their neighbors for all manner of imagined crimes. Winston Smith, Orwell’s protagonist, is called a “Eurasian” traitor and thought criminal by these heavily indoctrinated children, who would on the drop of a dime turn in their own parents to the thought police for the crime of unorthodoxy or nonconformity. In 1984, fear is rule of the day, as Big Brother is continually watching, not only through the eyes of children and omnipresent telescreens but through the acquiescence and sheepish compliance of the populace at large.
It would seem the Michigan State Police have taken a chapter from Orwell’s book. As the video above reveals, the cops in Michigan are encouraging citizens to snoop on all who “don’t belong” and who might engage in “suspicious behavior.” In the video, we are presented with a white homegrown terrorist in sunglasses and parka hood who wants to blow up a bridge with a backpack. Thanks to the diligence of ever watchful citizens, this fictional character, essentially a cartoon, is prevented from carrying out his attack and is arrested by the police.
Of course, as should be obvious by now, there are no homegrown terrorists inspired by al-Qaeda. In fact, the only putative terrorists about are created by the FBI, as the absurd case against a gang of impoverished black kids in Miami revealed well enough. And then there was the FBI contrived plot to blow up pipelines at Kennedy Airport in New York, and the one at Fort Dix, where “CWs,” short for “cooperating witnesses,” or rather federal informants, a euphemism for agents provocateurs, framed Muslims who worked for a pizzeria.
The Michigan State Police “educational” video is but another spin on the effort to convert neighborhood watch groups into antiterrorist informant cells. “I envision 100 million Americans looking for indicators of terrorism and promptly reporting it to a central database where it would get analyzed,” Mike Licata, a high school teacher and retired Air Force office who created CAT Eyes, told Carl Takei of the Boston Globe in 2003. “If Licata comes even close to his stated goal of 100 million informers, CAT Eyes would dwarf the citizen informer programs of the most repressive totalitarian states, making them appear amateurish by comparison.”
One third of the population snooping and informing on the other two thirds? Not even East Germany’s notorious Stasi had such ambitions, as only about one of every 50 East Germans collaborated with the Stasi, at the time in the 1980s one of the most extensive police infiltrations of a society in history. In America, naturally, we do things bigger and better.
Well before September 11, 2001 — on December 4, 1981, to be exact — Presidential Executive Order 12333 was signed by Ronald Reagan. It allowed the FBI, the military, and the CIA to infiltrate and “influence” domestic political groups and organizations, in other words it provided a legal green light for what was previously illegal under COINTELPRO, the program to subvert the constitutional rights of Americans.
“The CIA’s expanded role is especially ominous,” writes Brian Glick. “In the 60s, while legally banned from ‘internal security functions,’ the CIA managed to infiltrate the Black, student and antiwar movements. It also made secret use of university professors, journalists, labor leaders, publishing houses, cultural organizations and philanthropic fronts to mold US public opinion. But it apparently felt compelled to hold back — within the country — from the kinds of systematic political destabilization, torture, and murder which have become the hallmark of its operations abroad. Now, the full force of the CIA has been unleashed at home.”
As the Associated Press noted in October, 2002, the CIA “is increasing its presence at FBI field offices by assigning intelligence officers to domestic anti-terrorism teams,” a clear violation of its “legislative” charter, not that charters are of significance, as everything changed on September 11, 2001, at least according to our rulers and their minions. Of course, everything changed well before that date, as even a cursory glance at the CIA’s “family jewels” reveals.
As the above mentioned cases indicate, the FBI — with the assistance of the CIA, now ensconced in FBI field offices — is in the business of creating terrorism or the false impression of terrorism, never mind how fallacious or even absurd the examples are. All of this ridiculous hoopla, dutifully covered by the corporate media, itself long ago penetrated and co-opted by the CIA under Operation Mockingbird, results in the impression we are under siege, lately by al-Qaeda inspired blond haired and blue eyed terrorists with European surnames.
Thus it should not come as a surprise the Michigan State Police is in the “public relations” business of indoctrinating us against the fictional threat. As there are no al-Qaeda sleeper cells about, short of a handful of demented individuals posting on internet forums, it stands to reason there is no shortage of people ready to snoop, tattle and go after their neighbors for “suspicious behavior,” for instance insisting that the attacks of September 11 were an inside job.
In America, circa 2008, supporters of non-sanctioned political candidates fall victim to having their car tires slashed and are molested at political rallies for the crime of not enthusiastically supporting candidates selected by our rulers. In order to underscore the danger present, corporate media hacks such as Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, reading from their Mockingbird scripts, warn of danger and violence to come, equating such people with homegrown terrorists and potentially violent lunatics.
Finally, it should be noted that the Michigan State Police’s “Seven Signs of Terrorism” video was “originally sent out to police and then to students. But, the response by community groups that have seen the tape has been so good, authorities are trying to free up some homeland security money to distribute it to even more people,” WZZM 13 reported in January, 2005. In short, the Ministry of Homeland Security pays to inculcate the masses in the bogus notion that white guys in parka hoods with bomb-stuffed backpacks are on the loose, ready at the drop of a hat to blow up bridges and presumably kindergarten classrooms.
It is all nonsense, but nonsense bought by millions of people who have spent the last few years supping up an unending stream of ludicrous propaganda, never mind the complete and glaring absence of any terrorist threat, from the CIA’s own bastard creation al-Qaeda or any other terrorist organization.

By the time they start going door to door next month, police hope they will have reassured clergy, neighborhood leaders, and parents who still see the program as a way to violate the privacy of residents in neighborhoods with a large population of minority-group members and and immigrants.

Chertoff Warns Of "Earth Shattering" Events
DHS Head's guts giving him trouble once more
Department of Homeland Security Head Michael Chertoff has repeated the same fear mongering warning he made last year - he is worried "earth shattering" terror events are likely to be carried out soon.
Once again, Chertoff provides no specific details, he simply reminds Americans that they need to remain afraid of phantom terrorists:
"If you're asking me what keeps me up at night or what I most worry about -- in the short term, obviously, you worry about homegrown terrorists or somebody coming in with an explosive device or the kind of act of violence or terror that we've actually seen occasionally carried out in this country by people who are simply nuts or like a Timothy McVeigh." Chertoff told WTOP news.
"But in the longer run, in terms of something that would really be earth-shattering, the kinds of things I'm worried about are a nuclear or a dirty bomb attack or a nuclear or biological attack." Chertoff continued, citing the motive of toppling the already teetering US economy.
The threat from "Al Qaeda" is not over, Chertoff is at pains to remind us, "Just look at what's happened in the last year." he adds, referring to the fact that two men, since proven to be totally unconnected to "Al Qaeda", set a jeep on fire and drove it towards Glasgow airport in Scotland last August.
It was just last July that Chertoff cited a "gut feeling" when warning that Al Qaeda may attack the US, at the same time admitting there was not enough evidence of a pending attack to raise the nation's threat level.
He then toured the country warning attendees to his speeches that his gut feelings included simultaneous Los Angeles / San Francisco dirty bomb attacks.
Chertoff's hunches were much maligned by critics and spurred MSNBC's Keith Olbermann to lay out possible explanations for "Mr. Chertoff's remarkable revelations about his transcendently important, counter-terrorism stomach."
In recent times Chertoff has expressed disdain for those who have described the "war on terror" as hype, even taking a swipe at the 9/11 truth movement.
He is always keen to focus on his assertion that the internet is a breeding ground for terror and has publicly predicted that the next attack will be carried out by home grown web radicalized terrorists.
"I also think that the preparations that we need to have in place to deal with this threat are going to take a while to build, and we're building them as we speak." Chertoff concludes in the interview.
"But they're not going to be done in six weeks or even six months. So what is important is to stay focused on making the investments now that we will be very grateful for in several years if someone does get their hands on nuclear materials or a biological agent."
In other words, be Afraid, and stay afraid America.

How to Brainwash a Nation, 7 minute clip:
From Episode Two of the film series "The Century of the Self" by Adam Curtis. The nephew of Sigmund Freud, Edward Bernays started his business life as a publicist. While still in his twenties, he was part of the propaganda effort that drove the United States into in World War I (WW I.)
He personally advised several US presidents starting with Woodrow Wilson and counseled numerous corporations and business associations. Hitler's propaganda chief and Nazi henchman Joseph Goebbels was a reader and fan of Bernay's writing in particular Bernay's book "Crystallizing Public Opinion."
In this short excerpt from Curtis's film we see one example of Bernays at work.
Bernays was one of the engineers of the Cold War. He perfected the technique of manufacturing a distant but ever-threatening enemy and then creating a constant state of fear by generating false news reports that endlessly re-stated and exaggerated the threat.
The stated purpose of Bernay's methods was to give those in power greater control over what he called "the mass mind." It worked well in the 1950s and sadly, it appears to be working quite well today... but maybe not forever.

The Great Depression 2008
Andy Sutton
The Market Oracle
February 9, 2008
Webster’s defines complacency as “1.satisfaction or contentment 2. smug self-satisfaction” There is probably not a better word to describe the current state of perception with regard to economic and financial malady. I had an interesting conversation the other night about exactly this topic and the individual I was speaking with had an overriding belief that we cannot suffer economically simply because the current generation is not prepared to deal with it. While I certainly agree with the latter assertion, the former continues to baffle me. I am certainly not prepared to deal with a lengthy hospital stay as the result of a horrific car crash, but that alone doesn’t cloak me in immunity from having an accident. The reasoning is so broken and flawed, yet it is often all we get in terms of a perception of what is going on.
This disconnect begets a discussion of why exactly it is that society has chosen to believe itself to be immune from bad things. It is odd in itself that when you talk to individuals, they seem to be acutely aware of many of the challenges facing us, but when you put all the individuals together and create a society, we act as though the party will indeed last forever. We are certainly dealing with a situation in which the intelligence of the whole is by far less than the sum of all its parts. Here’s a little bit of déjà vu for you, compliments of Wikipedia:
“In the 1920s, Americans consumers and businesses relied on cheap credit, the former to purchase consumer goods such as automobiles and furniture and the later for capital investment to increase production. This fueled strong short-term growth but created consumer and commercial debt. People and businesses who were deeply in debt when price deflation occurred or demand for their product decreased often risked default. Many drastically cut current spending to keep up time payments, thus lowering demand for new products. Businesses began to fail as construction work and factory orders plunged.”
Sound familiar anyone? See any price deflation going on? The Wilshire 5000 has only lost about 2.5 TRILLION dollars in value in the last two months or so. What about the loss in home equity? Another trillion or two? Who knows, but I think you get the point. We are seeing almost to the final utterance the same play we saw unfold in 1929. Were those folks any more prepared for the Great Depression than we are today? I’d argue that while they were perhaps a bit better equipped to provide for their own sustenance that American society in the 1920’s was as complacent as we are today. When the realization of history’s coup de grace hits, we will be caught as unaware as our ancestors were back in 1929.
Here are some other examples of what Alan Greenspan likes to call ‘irrational exuberance’ in the 1920’s:
“We will not have any more crashes in our time.”
John Maynard Keynes in 1927 (The authenticity of this one is a little suspect) DOW ~ 175
“There will be no interruption of our permanent prosperity.”
Myron E. Forbes, President, Pierce Arrow Motor Car Co., January 12, 1928 – DOW ~ 200
“There may be a recession in stock prices, but not anything in the nature of a crash.” - Irving Fisher, leading U.S. economist, New York Times, Sept. 5, 1929 – DOW ~ 375
“All safe deposit boxes in banks or financial institutions have been sealed… and may only be opened in the presence of an agent of the I.R.S.” - President F.D. Roosevelt, 1933 – DOW ~ 65
Tuesday morning we received news that according to the Institute of Supply Management, the service portion of our economy underwent a significant contraction during the month of December. This is alarming given the fact that December is normally one of the busiest times of the year. Even still, a trip past the local mall provides a busy scene. People are streaming in and out, carrying boxes and bags of imported trinkets to their imported cars. They will then use imported gasoline to drive to their home, the mortgage of which is likely to be owned by a foreign investor. Yet the average American citizen sees nothing wrong with this picture. Or could it be that they don’t even see the picture at all? The media has certainly been playing the role of absentee informant in recent years, choosing to focus on such insipid topics as Britney Spears’ latest rehab stint rather than the important business at hand.
Here now, are some quotes from this generation’s 1929..in 2007 and 2008:
“It is encouraging that inflation expectations appear to be contained,” Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke – Testimony to Congress – March 28 th , 2007 – DOW ~ 12,500, Headline CPI-U ~ 2.8% Y/Y
“As I think you know, I believe very strongly that a strong dollar is in our nation’s interest, and I’m a big believer in currencies being set in a competitive, open marketplace,” - Henry Paulson – Secretary of the Treasury – USDX ~ 81.50
““We are making history. What has passed the Congress in record time is a gift to the middle class and those who aspire to it in our country.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the $168 Billion tax ‘rebate’ while the middle class is spending their Wal-Mart Christmas gift cards on food and other necessities.
They’re making history all right. Too bad it will end up being the WRONG kind. How can we ever hope to focus the population on the urgency of our current predicament when our leaders are willing to make it worse by handing our freebies, bailing out those who willingly make poor investment choices and telling us everything can be ‘free’ if we’ll only pull their lever on election day?
Or am I putting the cart in front of the horse? Perhaps a contrarian opinion might be that our leaders are giving the public exactly what it wants. In either case, I am quite certain that our state of unpreparedness will not constitute a free pass from the negative effects of a recession or a retraction of any of the financial excesses we’ve enjoyed over the past few decades.

Tortured Patsies To Take Fall For 9/11
Pentagon hopes executed scapegoats will make questions disappear
After half a dozen years of waterboarding, genital zapping, sleep deprivation and brainwashing, the Pentagon has finally found six patsies who will readily welcome their 72 virgins and take the fall for 9/11, providing debunkers with ample ammunition to dismiss questions about the gaping holes in the official story of the terror attacks.
"Among those held at Guantanamo is Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the attack six years ago in which hijacked planes were flown into buildings in New York and Washington. Five others are expected to be named in sworn charges," reports the Associated Press.
The fact that KSM's confession included a plan to target the Plaza Bank building in Washington state, which was not founded until 2006, four years after the alleged Al-Qaeda mastermind's arrest, should provide a clue as to the reliability of the "terror mastermind's" culpability for 9/11.
BakedDon
02-11-2008, 01:10 PM
But that was not the only plan that Sheik Mohammed was alleged to have hatched, as he claimed responsibility for everything from three assassination plots against Clinton, Carter and the Pope, to the FBI sponsored 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He surprisingly stopped short of accepting the blame for global warming and the Challenger space shuttle disaster.
Even CNN's audience was not buying the propaganda at the time, with 74% saying they disbelieved the authenticity of KSM's confession. CIA veteran Robert Baer wrote a stinging Time Magazine piece dismissing the supposition that KSM was "responsible for the 9/11 operation from A-Z" as he claimed in between cattle prod sessions.
It would be very clear why the establishment would be interested in hanging out the Ron Jeremy of terrorism to dry as the scapegoat for an official 9/11 story that holds about as much weight as a Milan cat-walk model. By invoking the "but he admitted it" line, any debate about the mountain of unanswered questions surrounding the attacks, which prompted 9/11 families to demand a new investigation last week, is effectively silenced. The fact that the 9/11 Commission was riddled with Bush administration cronies can also be swept under the rug.
But this cuts both ways.
In his first interview following 9/11, Osama Bin Laden denied any involvement in the attacks.
"I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle," Bin Laden told the Pakistani based Ummat newspaper.
If Bin Laden wasn't involved in 9/11 then KSM's "confession" is rendered obsolete.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since Khalid has squealed on the "A to Z" of 9/11 and will face a lethal injection, perhaps he can provide some answers to a few troubling little questions that still have us 9/11 "conspiracy nuts" running around in circles before he kicks the bucket;
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for the FBI ordering the 1993 World Trade Center bombing to go ahead? In his confession, KSM says he ran the attack but fails to explain why it was the FBI who provided the terror cell with the bomb materials through their informant.
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for NORAD completely reversing its standard operating procedure on the day of 9/11?
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for the collapse of three steel buildings, one that was not hit by a plane, from fire damage alone for the first and only time in history?
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for warning, according to Newsweek, a group of top Pentagon officials to cancel their flights on the evening of September 10th due to security concerns?
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for the record number of 'put' options, speculation that the stock of a company will fall, that were placed on American and United Airlines in the days preceding September 11th? This despite a September 10th Reuters report stating 'airline stocks set to fly.'
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for blocking FBI anti-terrorism investigations before 9/11 related to the bin Laden family and Saudi charities that were front groups for Al-Qaeda?
- Was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed responsible for advising the Secret Service not to remove President Bush from a completely unsecured Florida elementary school by letting them know he wasn't a target on 9/11?
Of course if the Pentagon gets their way, such questions will disappear along with any chance that the executed patsies could ever recant and contribute to the true perpetrators of 9/11 being identified.

World bourses lost 5.2 trillion dlrs in January
AFP
Sunday February 10, 2008
World stockmarkets lost 5.2 trillion dollars (3.6 trillion euros) in January thanks to the fallout from the US subprime crisis and fears of a global economic slowdown, Standard & Poor's said Saturday.
"If investors thought the market could only go up, January's wake-up call pulled them back into reality," the independent credit ratings' provider said.
Standard & Poor's said the world's equity markets lost a combined 5.2 trillion dollars as emerging markets fell 12.44 percent and developed markets lost 7.83 percent to register one of the worst starts to a new year.

"There were few safe havens in January as 50 of the 52 global equity markets ended the month in negative territory, with 25 of them posting double-digit losses," said Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&Ps.
All 26 developed equity markets posted negative returns in January, with 16 losing at least 10 percent of their value.
The January declines negated all previous market gains, leaving all of the developed markets in the red for the trailing three month period.
In Paris, the stock exchange lost 12.27 percent over the course of January, 15.27 percent over the past three months, more than wiping out its gains over the last 12 months -- down 0.74 percent).
The situation was even worse in London -- down 8.85 percent in January, down 16.54 percent for the past three months and down 2.22 percent over 12 months -- and in the US, which was down 6.07 percent in January, down 10.78 percent over three months and down 2.42 percent over 12 months.
The story was similar in Japan, where the market lost 4.47 percent in January, 10.31 percent over three months and down 10.44 percent over the past 12 months.
In Germany, in contrast, although the stock exchange lost 13.72 percent in January and 13.84 percent over three months, it was up 13.43 percent over the year.
Equity markets in emerging countries also suffered heavy losses in January, apart from Morocco which gained 10.17 percent and Jordan, which was up by 3.11 percent. Turkey was the most affected with January losses reaching 22.70 percent, followed by China on 21.40 percent, Russia on 16.12 percent and India at 16 percent.
But only Argentina and Taiwan slipped into negative territory for the 12-month period.

Monsanto’s Udder Disgrace
by Rosemarie Jackowski / February 11th, 2008
Some might say that Monsanto is more of a threat than al-Qaida, but I won’t say that. I remember the track record of Monsanto when it comes to seeking revenge against anyone who is critical of Monsanto’s corporate policies. I won’t say that I feel compassion for those who have been injured by Monsanto. I won’t say that cows suffer painful mastitis because of injections of Monsanto’s BGH.
I won’t say that Canadian farmer Percy Schmiester deserves support because of what Monsanto did to him. Schmiester was sued by Monsanto. In fact, so many farmers have been sued by Monsanto that a national hotline was set up to assist them.
I won’t say that Monsanto puts profits ahead of the health of all of us. I won’t say any of these things because I don’t have a legal defense fund sufficient to wage a battle against the giant Monsanto. In this land of free speech, sometimes only those with power and wealth have freedom of speech.
What I will say is that, in my opinion, what Monsanto is doing to Ben & Jerry’s is an udder disgrace. Monsanto, known for its strong-arm legal tactics, is opposing the labeling of ice cream. Why would Monsanto want information withheld from consumers? It’s all about money. Allowing consumers to have the facts could affect the corporation’s bottom line. BGH, otherwise known as Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, is a drug developed to increase bovine milk production. Ben & Jerry’s is fighting for the right to continue to label ice cream that is made with milk from BGH-free cows.
The food chain is under worldwide assault by U.S. corporations. The Master Race of corporations has seized control of the very essence of life itself. We are now in the age of Genetically Modified Doomsday Seeds. Why has there been no public discussion on who should have control of the planetary gene pool?
I applaud vegans. They have reached a higher moral plane than the rest of us; but even they are at risk of Monsantoitis. They must be vigilant if they want to avoid GMOs and “Roundup Ready” soy products.
It must be emphasized that all in this article is just my opinion — no Monsanto Process Servers knocking on my door, please.
I vaguely remember, a few years back, Monsanto ran the most oppressive lobbying campaign in the history of the State of Vermont. The crux of the controversy was the labeling of milk - not exactly nuclear physics or brain surgery. Some citizens and members of the State Legislature thought that it was a good idea to indicate on the label if milk came from cows that had not been injected with Monsanto’s money-making BGH. This would allow consumers the freedom to make an informed choice in the super market. Monsanto’s position, which was supported by the USDA — no surprise there — was that consumers did not have the right to that information.
The milk labeling controversy — and other corporate practices of Monsanto — have been issues for years. For a while every time I saw my Senator, I would greet him with the same comment, “Hey Bernie, when are you going to do something about Monsanto?” Senator Bernie would shake his head and raise his hands in frustration.
I often heard him say that no matter how bad you think things are in Washington, they are really much worse. While the Congress is distracted with growth hormones taken by sports figures, our farm animals are being abused with other hormones. Baseball players have a free choice. Cows don’t.
The current attack by the giant Monsanto on our beloved Ben & Jerry’s shows the dark underside of the corporate culture. Monsanto should back off. They should keep their drugs out of our cows and keep their hands off our ice cream. Is there nothing sacred? Do they have no shame? This is the stuff of summer time picnics, church socials, and children’s birthday parties. Sometimes it is only ice cream that can put a smile on the face of Grandpa. Ice cream — the magic potion that was fed to kids in the old days to soothe painful throats after tonsillectomies.
Giant corporations intent on waging battles against the little guys should chill out. It’s time for those corporate execs to feast on some Chunky Monkey or maybe a little Cherry Garcia. It just might be the perfect medicine to soothe the savage beast inside their desolate corporate souls.

New Net neutrality bill poised to surface in House
arstechnica.com — Reps. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Chip Pickering (R-MS) are set to introduce a bill that would force the FCC to take a long, hard look at network neutrality. The Commission would also have to (gasp) hear from the public... at least eight times
Rep. Markey's office let us know that the bill was introduced this morning. According to Markey, the bill will "ensure that the historic, open architecture nature of the Internet will be preserved and fostered for the consumers, content providers and high tech innovators of the future."

Oops: White House spokesman admits telecoms spied
rawstory.com — Mercy, Perino. Talk about getting your foot stuck in your mouth.
Well, he finally dropped the "allegedly." President Bush at long last admitted what everyone has suspected for years -- the nation's telecommunications companies closely cooperated with the National Security Agency and his administration to implement large-scale spying on Americans.
Bush was praising the Senate for approving his long-sought update to a foreign surveillance law. Critics say the bill legalizes his warrantless wiretapping program, which was implemented outside the boundaries of the law, and frees phone and internet companies from any responsibility for violating customers' privacy.
"The senate bill also provides fair and just liability protections for companies that did the right thing and assisted in defending America, after the attacks of Sept. 11," Bush said.
As recently as his State of the Union address, Bush would only call for legal immunity for companies "believed to have assisted" in his so-called Terrorist Surveillance Program.
Bush's admission came a day after his press secretary similarly acknowledged phone company cooperation. Also Tuesday, the Director of National Intelligence sought to suppress as "Top Secret" evidence of a phone conversation between a telecom company representative and a DNI lawyer.
Speaking from the Oval Office Wednesday morning, Bush threw down the gauntlet and issued a stern warning to the House. He admonished the chamber for failing to rubber-stamp the White House approved bill, which 18 Democrats joined every Republican and Joe Lieberman to do Tuesday. Democrats in the House, on the other hand, approved a bill updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance without granting legal immunity.
Bush has pleged to veto any bill without immunity, and he said Tuesday that he would not accept any more temporary FISA extensions. By midnight Saturday, when a stop-gap extension expires, Bush said he will get what he wants or do nothing to stop what he says are vital gaps in intelligence collection re-open.
On the eve of a vote to give telephone companies immunity for their alleged participation in the National Security Agency's warrantless wiretap program, White House spokesperson Dana Perino admitted that the companies actually spied.
Because they were patriotic.
"The telephone companies that were alleged to have helped their country after 9/11 did so because they are patriotic and they certainly helped us and they helped us save lives," Perino told reporters at Tuesday's press briefing.
The admission, while possibly a verbal slip-up, was first noticed by Ryan Singer, of Wired.
The Senate gave the phone companies immunity by a 69-29 vote. It passed wiretapping bill in its entirety just before 6pm ET, 68-29.
Earlier this afternoon, the immunity measure's staunchest opponent, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT), announced he would abandon his effort to block the bill with a filibuster, arguing that the House, which has passed an immunity-free bill, would be a better place to try to strip immunity from Congress's final piece of legislation.
"We lost every single battle we had on this bill," Dodd said on a conference call Tuesday with reporters and bloggers. "And the question is now, Can we do better with the House carrying the ball on this bill?"

9/11: The "Perfect Opportunity" for North American Integration
Go to Original (http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lmdsb2JhbHJlc2VhcmNoLmNhL2luZGV4Ln BocD9jLi52YSZhaWQ9ODA4Mg==)
By Andrew G. Marshall
On February 12, 2008, the Canadian newspaper, the Financial Post, published an opinion piece by Michael Hart, of Carleton University, entitled, "Canada Blew It," in which he blamed the "slow" approach to North American integration on Canada's policies following 9/11. The article begins by stating:
"The Canadian and U.S. economies have become intertwined in response to demands by Canadians and Americans for each other's products, services, capital, and ideas. Yet the border as presently constituted protects Canadians and Americans from each other, not from global security threats. It also presents a risk to the wealth-creating flow of people, goods, services and capital between the two countries."1
Hart states that in order to "address global security concerns", Canada and the US need to, "develop co-operative solutions to common problems." He stated to do this, Canada and the US should implement an, "agenda aimed at removing the border to the largest extent possible as an obstacle to Canada-U.S. interaction and integration." He continues in outlining the steps to be taken in this agenda, the first of which is to, "re-imagine the border." Hart explains that much of the problems with the border are a result of "regulatory compliance", as in having a border, to which he proposes a solution in which, "Canada and the United States need to aggressively pursue regulatory convergence," or in other words, harmonization. He continues, "It is in Canada's interests to align as many of its regulatory requirements as possible with those of the United States."
In discussing the security of "North America's" economic infrastructure, Hart states, "Similar to our interdependence in ensuring the security of the North American continent, neither country can ensure the security of its economic infrastructure without the full co-operation of the other," to which he elaborates that, "we need to build the necessary institutions and networks of co-operation that ensure that American and Canadian officials are working together toward common objectives and doing so on the basis of constructive political oversight."2 Amazingly, Hart stated that it is "not a trade agenda", but is, in fact, "an integration agenda that requires the full participation of departments and agencies on both sides of the border responsible for border administration, economic regulation, and infrastructure integrity."
Hart continued in his critique of the slow process of integration, stating that, "The crisis of Sept. 11, 2001, provided a perfect opportunity to seize the moment to re-imagine the border, but Canada blew it [emphasis added]." This is a clear example of how important it is for those who oppose the processes of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), and the North American Union which it seeks to create, must also examine the relationship between integration and terror; between the North American Union and 9/11. These are not separate elements of one another, these events are themselves deeply integrated, in both purpose and strategy. It is integral for those that oppose the NAU to review the attacks of September 11, 2001, to see the linkages between them and understand them as something beyond random associations and reactions to one another.
As to explaining why "Canada blew it," Hart states that, "Rather than work with the United States to address real security and related concerns, and to build a much-better functioning, more open, and more integrated North America, Canadian authorities reacted defensively and anxiously to American security concerns." But this is a gross misrepresentation, as shortly after 9/11, in December of 2001, "Governor Tom Ridge and Deputy Prime Minister John Manley Signed the Smart Border Declaration and Associated 30-Point Action Plan to Enhance the Security of Our Shared Border While Facilitating the Legitimate Flow of People and Goods,"3 according to the White House's December 2002 press release on the subject. Part of the 30-Point Action plan included "Biometric Identifiers", stating, "In the interest of having cards that could be used across different modes of travel, we have agreed to use cards that are capable of storing multiple biometrics." Another of the 30 points was "Permanent Residence Cards", or in other words, ID Cards. Further, the plans also stated that, "The United States and Canada have agreed to share Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Records (API/PNR) on high-risk travelers destined to either country." This is hardly stepping away from integration between the two countries, as Michael Hart seems to imagine.
Hart further explains that, "In the absence of another crisis, only inspired leadership can overcome the narrow-minded response of special and entrenched interests and bureaucratic self-preservation."4 Then, in revealing the true intent of the SPP, Hart states, "Each group [Canada and the US] is adept at exploiting the default position of incrementalism, exemplified by such initiatives as the Security and Prosperity Partnership. Progress will be made under the SPP banner, but at a snail's pace and without the impact needed to make a perceptible difference." This is a public admission of the SPP being an incremental approach to "deep integration", of which then ultimate goal is to form a North American Union. Hart explains that a key source of leadership is, "a business sector prepared to speak out forcefully and convincingly about the costs and lost opportunities flowing from misdirected and overzealous border administration."
So who is Michael Hart? He is the Simon Reisman Chair in Trade Policy at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University.5 He is the first person to hold this position, which is named after Simon Reisman, "Canada's Chief Negotiator during the free trade talks with the United States, he also participated in a series of important international trade negotiations under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade."6 Reisman was recently quoted by CTV regarding the 1988 Canada US Free Trade Agreement, saying, "We got it, we didn't get it all. We left a little for posterity."7 Further, Michael Hart "was a senior official in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade specializing in trade policy and trade negotiations."8 He was also the author of a document entitled, "Free Trade in Free Fall? Assessing the Impact of Nontariff Barriers on Canada-U.S. Trade," published by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.9 From 2004 to 2005, Hart was a visiting scholar at the Center for North American Studies at American University,10 of which the Director is Robert Pastor.11
Robert Pastor is infamously referred to as the "father" of the North American Union, and arguably its chief public spokesperson and champion, and was the Co-Chair of the Independent Task Force on the Future of North America, a joint task force between the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in the United States and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE) in Canada, as well as the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, which produced the document "Building a North American Community."12 This document is the blueprint for the Security and Prosperity Agreement of North America, which outlines the overall objectives of the agreement in its goals of "integrating" North America.
Robert Pastor is also on the Board of Directors of the North American Forum on Integration, or NAFI, alongside the Chairman, Stephen Black, who is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.13 NAFI, "aims to address the issues raised by North American integration as well as identify new ideas and strategies to reinforce the North American region,"14 which every year, since 2005, holds what it calls a "Triumvirate", which their website describes as, "an annual North American mock parliament," which, "allows a hundred Canadian, American and Mexican university students to better understand the North American dynamic as well as the challenges faced by NAFTA partners."15 Among the participating Universities in NAFI, is the American University, (of course), Simon Fraser University, of which an economics professor emeritus recently wrote an article for the Financial Post in which he mentioned the amero currency as a goal in North America [See: North American Monetary Integration: Here Comes the Amero, Global Research16], and another notable university is Carleton University.17 It just so happens that the author of Canada Blew It, Michael Hart, works at Carleton.
The process towards a North American Union is embedded in our societal institutions, from the corporate world, to media, government and education. These are individuals connected through joint membership in think tanks and interest groups of those who share ideological beliefs in internationalism and globalization. So, too, must those who oppose the SPP and the NAU be embedded in all the institutions of our societies, working not for personal gain and profit, but for country and freedom, preserving our rights, liberties and identity, and exposing those who seek to challenge our inherent human rights.

Bush Administration Hides More Data, Shuts Down Website Tracking U.S. Economic Indicators
Go To Original (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/13 /bush-administration-hides_n_86513.html)
The U.S. economy is faltering. Family debt is on the rise, benefits are disappearing, the deficit is skyrocketing, and the mortgage crisis has worsened. Conservatives have attempted to deflect attention from the crisis, by blaming the media's negative coverage and insisting the United States is not headed toward a recession, despite what economists are predicting.
The Bush administration's latest move is to simply hide the data. Forbes has awarded EconomicIndicators.gov one of its "Best of the Web" awards. As Forbes explains, the government site provides an invaluable service to the public for accessing U.S. economic ..
This site is maintained by the Economics and Statistics Administration and combines data collected by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, like GDP and net imports and exports, and the Census Bureau, like retail sales and durable goods shipments. The site simply links to the relevant department's Web site. This might not seem like a big deal, but doing it yourself-say, trying to find retail sales data on the Census Bureau's site-is such an exercise in futility that it will convince you why this portal is necessary

The buildings were full of asbestos, which was to be removed by law. The owner had already got several waivers on this unworkable job. The asbestos was to be fully removed by 2007. A job which no insurance company would cover. A job that was estimated at around a billion dollars. A job that would of cost the owner three to four times the full value of the complex. Do you think the owner would of gotten a permit to demolish and rebuild? How much ya think that would of cost? To demolish buildings full of asbestos and rebuild.
I think he still would of had to have thee asbestos removed...
Well not to worry for the owner. Because he collected the fattest insurance pay off ever. He even went after them for two pay offs. Claiming that since they were two separate events he should get paid twice. Oh and he has rebuilt all but the two and will have those soon enough.

Just after the completion and signing of the Constitution, in reply to a woman's inquiry as to the type of government the Founders had created, Benjamin Franklin said, "A Republic, if you can keep it." ....
..Not only have we failed to keep it, most don't even know what it is...
..A Republic is representative government ruled by law (the Constitution). A democracy is direct government ruled by the majority (mob rule). A Republic recognizes the inalienable rights of individuals while democracies are only concerned with group wants or needs (the public good).
Lawmaking is a slow, deliberate process in our Constitutional Republic requiring approval from the three banches of government, the Supreme Court and individual jurors (jury-nullification). Lawmaking in our unlawful democracy occurs rapidly requiring approval from the whim of the majority as determined by polls and/or voter referendums. A good example of democracy in action is a lynch mob. A more recent example was the failure of the US Senate to uphold their oath "to do impartial justice" and remove bill clinton from office. Those Senators should be removed themselves, for failure to uphold their oath and for aiding and abetting a known criminal.
Democracies always self-destruct when the non-productive majority realizes that it can vote itself handouts from the productive minority by electing the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury. To maintain their power, these candidates must adopt an ever-increasing tax and spend policy to satisfy the ever-increasing desires of the majority. As taxes increase, incentive to produce decreases, causing many of the once productive to drop out and join the non-productive. When there are no longer enough producers to fund the legitimate functions of government and the socialist programs, the democracy will collapse, always to be followed by a Dictatorship.
Even though nearly every politician, teacher, journalist and citizen believes that our Founders created a democracy, it is absolutely not true. The Founders knew full well the differences between a Republic and a Democracy and they repeatedly and emphatically said that they had founded a republic.
Article IV Section 4, of the Constitution "guarantees to every state in this union a Republican form of government".... Conversely, the word Democracy is not mentioned even once in the Constitution. Madison warned us of the dangers of democracies with these words,
.."Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths...",
"We may define a republic to be ... a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is essential to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion or a favored class of it; otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans and claim for their government the honorable title of republic." James Madison, Federalist No. 10, (1787)
"A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority. There is but little virtue in the action of masses of men." Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
Our military training manuals used to contain the correct definitions of Democracy and Republic. The following comes from Training Manual No. 2000-25 published by the War Department, November 30, 1928.
DEMOCRACY:
..
..A government of the masses.
..Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression.
..Results in mobocracy.
..Attitude toward property is communistic--negating property rights.
..Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences.
..Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.....
REPUBLIC:
..
..Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.
..Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.
..A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
..Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy.
..Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.
..Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world.....
The manuals containing these definitions were ordered destroyed without explanation about the same time that President Franklin D. Roosevelt made private ownership of our lawful money (US Minted Gold Coins) illegal. Shortly after the people turned in their $20 gold coins, the price was increased from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce. Almost overnight F.D.R., the most popular president this century (elected 4 times) looted almost half of this nation's wealth, while convincing the people that it was for their own good. Many of F.D.R.'s policies were suggested by his right hand man, Harry Hopkins, who said,
.."Tax and Tax, Spend and Spend, Elect and Elect, because the people are too damn dumb to know the difference".

Bob Dylan ~ Union Sundown
Well, my shoes, they come from Singapore,
My flashlight's from Taiwan,
My tablecloth's from Malaysia,
My belt buckle's from the Amazon.
You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines
And the car I drive is a Chevrolet,
It was put together down in Argentina
By a guy makin' thirty cents a day.
Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.
Well, this silk dress is from Hong Kong
And the pearls are from Japan.
Well, the dog collar's from India
And the flower pot's from Pakistan.
All the furniture, it says "Made in Brazil"
Where a woman, she slaved for sure
Bringin' home thirty cents a day to a family of twelve,
You know, that's a lot of money to her.
Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.
Well, you know, lots of people complainin' that there is no work.
I say, "Why you say that for
When nothin' you got is U.S.-made?"
They don't make nothin' here no more,
You know, capitalism is above the law.
It say, "It don't count 'less it sells."
When it costs too much to build it at home
You just build it cheaper someplace else.
Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.
Well, the job that you used to have,
They gave it to somebody down in El Salvador.
The unions are big business, friend,
And they're goin' out like a dinosaur.
They used to grow food in Kansas
Now they want to grow it on the moon and eat it raw.
I can see the day coming when even your home garden
Is gonna be against the law.
Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.
Democracy don't rule the world,
You'd better get that in your head.
This world is ruled by violence
But I guess that's better left unsaid.
From Broadway to the Milky Way,
That's a lot of territory indeed
And a man's gonna do what he has to do
When he's got a hungry mouth to feed.
Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help . . . no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks . . .
Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

While you were sleeping
They came and took it all away
The lanes and the meadows
The places where you used to play
It was an inside job
By the well-connected
Your little protest
Summarily rejected
It was an inside job
Like it always is
Chalk it up to business as usual
While we are dreaming
This little island disappears
While you are looking the other way
Theyll take your right to own your own ideas
And its an inside job
Favors collected
Your trusted servants
Have left you unprotected
It was an inside job
Like it always is
Just chalk it up
To business as usual
You think that youre so smart
But you dont have a fucking clue
What those men up in the towers
Are doing to me and you
And theyll keep doin it and doin it
And doin it and doin it
And doin it and doin it
And doin it and doin it
Until we all wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
I know what Ive done wrong
I am acquainted with the night
I know how hard it is
To always walk out in the light
And its an inside job
To learn about forgiving
Its an inside job
To hang on to the joy of living
They know the road by which you came
They know your mothers maiden name
And what you had for breakfast
And what youve hidden in the mattress
Insect politics
Indifferent universe
Bang your head against the wall
But apathy is worse
Its an inside job
Its an inside job
Its an inside job
Yeh, yeah

Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor
time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of God has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
