No, I was somewhat safe from it. Was gone most of the time that it was there, and when it was, we started taking care of it. I'm sorry that happened; we're trying to make sure that doesn't happen again.
riscy
05-26-2006, 09:38 AM

She was on last night for a while, but that was to fix the site. She's got finals in school to prepare for. I think that this is the end of the semester for her, so she's been studying for the tests she has to take.
mathmission
05-26-2006, 09:43 AM
But she does pop in and out of here when she can
mathmission
05-26-2006, 09:43 AM

mathmission
05-26-2006, 09:44 AM
Im not sure what new post goal I'm going for. It used to be 5,000 but since I'm there, I might as well double that, and make my new posting goal near 10,400.
mathmission
05-26-2006, 09:44 AM
Yep - but I will be away from the end of June for a few months

Off to the south of France for the summer
Dang! I was going to take a trip to France here about 4 months ago, but the people that I was going to go with dropped out on me and I didn't want to tour Europe alone. So perhaps some time when I get over there, I'll have to visit. Pegasus lives over in that area as well... Well, over in Greece, but still, that's much closer than where I am.
riscy
05-26-2006, 09:46 AM

yeah, I can't imagine being confined to a dial up again. I remember back in the day when I was so excited to hear what a 56K modem sounded like, when it first came out.

mathmission

Looks very nice. My room mate just left for two weeks in Italy. I was somewhat bitter about it since I was going to go, and everyone canceled on me, and now, when I can't go, everyone seems to be headed over there. But oh well, I suppose I will make my way there at some point.

You seem really keen on the wars - Winnie sig as well
To explain my interest here, and I think it will be at least a somewhat interesting story, I shall talk about my interest in these wars. One thing I find very interesting is how large these wars were, and how many people sacrificed, on both sides. Of course, I shall always argue on the side of freedom, but I have to say that it is very interesting to think about all the people that fought on the 'other side' as well. Take both world wars. Thousand and thousands of people lost their lives fighting for what they believed was right. Some fought because they were forced into the military.
And look at the impact on the world that these conflicts created! Look at how we handle things today. That's not to say that things are handled in the best interest, but certainly a lot was learned from all of the wars across all of time. I'm not in the military, nor do I plan to be, but I always find it interesting to think about the people that were. I've read many books telling the stories of people and their reactions after the war. All these interpretations of things that happened, and how us humans deal with such trauma. Take one of my favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut. He was alive and kicking, in Dresden when the Allies thought it best to burn that city to the ground. I can't even come close to imagining what it was like there. But I can think about how his books interpret how he is reacting. I find all of that very interesting.

MM, do you know anyone who can do a banner sig for me?
riscy

My posts are very long (spacewise) due to my avatar which I could live without
mathmission

MM, do you know anyone who can do a banner sig for me?
Yeah, generally Carrie is pretty good at doing them
mathmission
05-26-2006, 01:08 PM
There is a thread that you can post in, asking for someone to make you a banner
mathmission
05-26-2006, 01:09 PM
You just write what you're looking for, and they can make something, or at least start something that you can modify
mathmission
05-26-2006, 01:09 PM
I used photoshop for mine, pretty easy. I'd offer to make you one, but I'm not going to be around my personal computer here for a while.
riscy
05-26-2006, 01:13 PM
Posted a request there but had no joy - just noticed a message about a Symantec vulnerability, which I posted on the front page
riscy
05-26-2006, 01:14 PM
I don't use it anymore, found it was too system hungry
mathmission
05-26-2006, 01:15 PM
Hmm, I'll have to check that out. Hopefully someone will take a look at the banner thing. What were you looking for in terms of a banner? I might be able to make one for you, but it wouldn't be until next week.
riscy
05-26-2006, 01:18 PM
I posted in the banner section - something dark - not to sound cliche, but something techy, with lots of blacks and greys.
Geometric shapes or abstract art is good.
riscy
05-26-2006, 01:19 PM
Thx for offering MM -
I am not good with photoshop, otherwise I would do it - maybe you could use the pic I posted as a pale background, in BW and then my nick over it??

Yeah, did a lot of posting there this morning, probably going to keep going this afternoon, just boosting the numbers here.
mathmission
05-26-2006, 01:59 PM
And strangely, I've added to several people's reputations, and each time, they've jumped up a notch, kinda cool
mathmission
05-26-2006, 02:01 PM
I still have a long way to go to get to where I want to be!
mathmission
05-26-2006, 02:01 PM
But then again, I'm posting pretty fast these days, so I think I might have a chance to at least do some serious damage to that gap.
mathmission
05-26-2006, 02:04 PM
So Thumper, what's new?

riscy
05-27-2006, 11:15 AM
Don't know how, but some of my news posts make it onto the front page - good to see, as they are all recent news stories which I pick up in different places
riscy
05-27-2006, 11:16 AM
Carrie used to post lots before, but as you said she is busy at the minute.
riscy
05-27-2006, 11:16 AM
