Yeah... I was gone for like 10 minutes and there are 50 some new posts! Nice job peeps. My only accomplishment was frustration. Had a bunch of people over, and didn't get much done, then worked for a while writing, got something around 2300 more words down, then decided that I didn't like it, and botched the thing. Ah, the pains of an artist, no?

Yeah, that sounds a bit pretentious.

... An old farmer decided it was time to get a new rooster for his hens. The current rooster was still doing an okay job, but he was getting on in years. And the farmer figured getting a new rooster couldn't hurt anything.

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:08 PM
So he buys a young cock from the local rooster emporium, and turns him loose in the barn yard. Well, the old rooster sees the young one strutting around and he gets a little worried. :(

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:09 PM
So, they're trying to replace me, thinks the old rooster.I've got to do something about this. He walks up to the new bird and says, "So you're the new stud in town? I bet you really think you're hot stuff, don't you? Well I'm not ready for the chopping block yet. I'll bet I'm still the better bird. And to prove it, I challenge you to a race around that hen house over there. We'll run around it ten times and whoever finish's first gets to have all the hens for himself." :kisses:

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:11 PM
Well, the young rooster was a proud sort, and he definitely thought he was more than a match for the old guy. "You're on," said the young rooster. "And since I know I'm so great, I'll even give you a head start of half a lap. I'll still win easy,". :strong:

HI GoBabyGo!:bigwave:

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:13 PM
So the two roosters go over to the hen house to start the race with all the hens gathering around to watch. The race begins and all the hens start cheering the roosters on. After the first lap, the old rooster is still maintaining his lead. After the second lap, the old guy's lead has slipped a little but he's still hanging in there. Unfortunately the old rooster's lead continues to slip each time around, and by the fifth lap he's just barely in front of the young rooster. :2eyes:

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:14 PM
By now the farmer has heard all the commotion. He runs into the house, gets his shotgun, and runs out to the barn yard figuring a fox or something is after his chickens :shoot:

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:16 PM
. When he gets there, he sees the two roosters running around the hen house, with the old rooster still slightly in the lead. He immediately takes his shotgun, aims, fires, and blows the young rooster away. :omg:

GoBabyGo
07-01-2005, 06:18 PM
As he walks away slowly, he says to himself ....... "Damn, that's the third gay rooster I've bought this month." :nut: :nut: :nut:

Yeah, we have this place in town, called India's House, first time I've been there, and I've lived in this town for 4 years. Outside of the food being something really good, and having some very strange breads, and desserts--and I know how silly this is going to sound--but something intersting was that I got to see a part of Columbia I've never seen before. Looking out from inside the place, it was part of Columbia I had never seen, since I had never been there.

I guess that after being somewhere for so long, somtimes take for granted the city, and what's around us.

Heh, I sound like my own character in my stories!

I mean the food from the country, and I think what I had was called Varadoo, though Im not totally sure. It was a curry based chicken and potato with tomato sauce, served over rice. We aslo got two orders of the bread that is made over the clay pot. And several other things that came with the apetizer plate. I don't remember all the names. The dessert was some sort of mango based custard. All of it was really good. Quite expensive for what I'm used to though.

Haven't really had the chance to try a lot of the cuisine found outside of the regular things in Columbia. I've been to many mexican places, some actually near the border, where I find its much better. I've had many different sea food dishes, including a most delicious sword fish steak at the Cedar Creek Inn (www.cedarcreekinn.com) in Brea, CA. I've yet to get a good taste of Greek, and Medetranian. I come from an Italian family, and a German family, so I've that covered. Never had Korean food. Vietnamese though, had some sort of steak that could only be purchased in one of those small vietnamese groceries. Amazing stuff. I need to get my ass over to Europe though, I might do that in the winter. Anyone wanna join?

I never had German food until I moved here. The town I live in has an area called Little Denmark and the rest seem to be of Eastern European and Nordic ancestry. The people here get pretty big--beer and brats--never heard of a brat b4 moving here. Or Kringle. The Danish food is similar rto the Swede food my gramma used to ake and the Czech food her husband liked. Dad's side.

Now my Mom's side was the hot and spicy Mediteranean. I fell in love with Greek food when I went their for 2 weeks years ago. And I love fresh marinara and the Northern italian food.
Swiss food scared me a bit. I couldn't decipehr it, but it was a lot of potatoes covered in a pool of melted cheese.

My step father was in the Navy, subs, so we moved a lot and I was esposed to many foods.

I truly miss real ocean seafood. Lake Michigan wasn't all that bad when I moved here, but it is just a cesspool now, I won't eat lake fish.

I miss the foods of Polynesia--so varied. I pass on Blood Pudding from the PI, but the rest is good, even the raw sashimi.

Japanese food was something I also gave a shot at just recently, had a very interesting soup at a place where I had to sit on the floor, and take off my shoes. I enjoyed it very much. The soup was served in a kettle of sorts, chicken based, with long noodles, several different types of veggies, and a surprise to me, a fried egg at the bottom. Good stuff, sushi as well was good, saki was decent... tasted like hot vodka.

sepia
07-02-2005, 01:56 AM
Japanese food I was very careful with. I love Tempura, but I don't like the lobster that is still living and crawling on the plate.
It's funny, we used to eat Saimin, sounds like what you had, had pink and white rolled fish, nori, and the egg. It is so coomon a dish that it is actually on the McDonald's menu over there. The island was about 80% Japanese when I lived there. They are a very polite, hard working, formal yet pretty closed community over there. but that was years ago. the parents of many of my friends were from japan and still did the tea ceremonies. If you get a chance, go to a Japanese tea room.

But, the islands also seemed to have a very non-American thing going on in places also. Cockfights, the monkey table (I refused that), and having your friend telling you the family was hungry and it was the end of the month so Dad was going to the pound to pick up a dog--Tawainese and Philipino. I accidently had puppy soup from some Mexican friends while in WA. I was grossed out, since I had given them the puppy. I told my philipino friend about it in Seattle, and expected him to be as horrified as me. He looked over and told me that dog, when prepared corectly, is very good. Duh...........

Differnet cultures eat things we wouldn't touch, we eat things that disgust them. Cultural differences.
Bu, they don't load up their food with a lot of meat the way we do. It is more of a garnish, andin some ways very healthy.

I can give you my recipe for hawaiian shrimp curry if you like. I still have many of the recipes I started cololecting when I was much younger. Even the original Neiman Marcus cookies and the Frango recipe.

And lots of Indian food, including the bread you spoke of..
Let me know.

A Guy is driving his girlfriend home when she decides she wants to go to her friends instead. Her friend lives out of the way so she tells her boyfriend that she would get naked for him if he drove her. The guy wants some dirty fun and says ok and the girl takes off all her clothes. The boyfriend is so busy looking at her that he stacks the car and gets stuck between the steering wheel and the seat. He tells her to go get help and she replied that she couldn’t because she didn’t have any clothes on. He replies, “Take my shoe and cover your snatch with it, and go for help!?

She takes the shoe and runs to the closest gas station. She finds the clerk and says, "Help, my boyfriend is stuck! Can you help us?" The clerk replies, "I’m sorry, I think he's too far in."

The husband thinks for a moment, goes upstairs, and comes back down, with his suitcase packed as well. "Where do you think you going?" the wife asks. "I'm coming with you...I want to see how you survive on $800 a year!!!"

I really can't say that it's a bad thing, because after being in quite a few, and seeing all the relationships of my friends, and how they are turning out (though I'm sure that has something to do with my friends...) I'm ok with being single. I guess that over the years, I've seen quite a few flop, and sort of want to prove that they can work some times!

Then again, I don't hold the best track record for relationships.

Either way, in short, I'm good being single. If anything, it gives me the time to write.

And plus, I'z gotz all youz bovines as friends! Who needs a loving girlfriend, right? ;)

Illinois-born and raised.
Iowa
Indiana
Ohio
Pennsylvania
W. Virginia
Virginia
Washington DC
S. Carolina
N Carolina
Tennesee
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri
and I do believe that's all the places I've been.

I like OK alot, and actually I will most likely end up there or in Northern TX if I ever move.

I would love to goto Germany, I used to chat with Tiggerfoot...dunno if you know him or not but he always talked of how beautiful and laid back it was over there. I have done some research on it and have found it to be true. When they have dinner, they plan on being there in a restaraunt for more than 2 hours...taking their sweet time and such. The land is amazing also.

I would also like to goto Africa and see that culture, how they live and the animals there.

Same with Alaska...and New Zealand.

Closer to home...Hawaii, my mom went in 98' and said it was so beautiful there, I'd love the chance to go.

And Hollywood...I'd like to be in Hollywood for a Premiere or something stupid, just to see how it's done .

I've a friend that moved to Alaska, said that its absolutely beautiful there. The only weird thing is the change in sunlight. I think he said the other day, there was 22 hours of sunlight. I've always wanted to go to Europe, and there is a chance that in the winter I am going to be able to, that would be wonderful. Hawaii, its a nice place to go, but make sure that you have a good time there. I went there for a band trip years ago, and I remember it really well, but I also remember having a terrible time there with my firlfriend. She didn't even want to walk along the beach at night. We were stupid kids. Case and point, go with someone you know will have a good time!

Hollywood is pretty cool, but I personally hate LA. I used to live there, and I visit often, but there are so many people, I just don't understand how anyone can stand it. Hollywood is a cool place though, I would recommend the Chinese Theatre, its where the premieres are. I would also say, do the star walk, its good fun. Headed to New Orleans here in three days, so I'll let you know what I thought of there as well!

We had some little bastard kids come in and tear up the residence halls that I am in charge of. These kids... I don't get it. What's with summer camps and going crazy. The first thing they do when they get here is flood the bathrooms. I don't understand that; they have to use them all week. Kids...I don't even know. I suppose when I finally get around to finding someone, and having a kid, I'll change.

Either way, I tried to be nice and make a cake for my staff for the meeting. As you can see...though I might be able to cook really awesome dinners, and sample cuisines from around the world, baking is not yet a strong suit. Instead, I just took them out for drinks.

Carrie
07-08-2005, 10:04 PM
At first they were too far away to see exactly what they were...all you could see is what appeared to be a large torpedo.

Carrie
07-08-2005, 10:04 PM
Then the got closer and you could see the top fins sticking up out of the water...then they finally got close enough to see them in the water...4 of them swimming 2 by 2...

So, despite all this, I hope that everyone is doing well. Nothing really new to report with me. I have finished the second act of the first screenplay that I am working on, sort of close to having it about half done, sort of. As soon as I have it done, I will be sure to put it up so that people can read it, and let me know if they think I should do more. That's the beauty of a pilot episode, you make one, and then determine if it should go on.

Well guys just to let you know that it is st ill raining here in NH. It has been for a solid week. We are all about to float away. They evacuated about 1300 people last night from the city. Thank god I live on a mountain and it would have to rain for a year straight to get to me.

Only two people signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, John Hancock and Charles Thomson. Most of the rest signed on August 2, but the last signature wasn't added until 5 years later.

According to the federal Center for Substance Abuse prevention, "For kids under twenty-one, there is no difference between alcohol and other drug use and abuse." Incredibly, it makes no distinction between a self-reliant 20 year old toasting his love at their wedding reception with a sip of champagne and a drug-addicted 20 year old doing crack cocaine!

So, here's something that I am seriously considering, and everyone at least consider it. I'm thinking about spending a year away from everyone I know, and moving somewhere and just living. This can be in the US, or it can be out of the country, so PB, Pegasus, you guys too...

Like I said, I'm thinking about moving away, but I need some help setting up the stuff. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to live, or places that might be looking for a writer or editor. Of course, I won't be doing this for a while, but I do think that I need to get away from things, and live abroad. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on that. I'll post this in a different thread as well to make sure it doesn't get lost.

so, outside of that, nothing going on. Spent some time with some friends last night, and waiting to hang out with one more before I might return to Columbia. My friend Clint is hanging out with his ex-girlfriend/sex friend. They pretty much get together every-now-and-then and hang out, and sometimes, get it on. He said that he was going out with her tonight, and avoiding staying home with her, to make sure there's no....business..... this evening.

I don't know about you... but I think I would take up that opportunity. Then again, I'm a lonely bastard.

G'day Edge, not sure we ever met. I too was gone for several months making a film. UTC's gone through several changed in just the last few months. Posting in here sort of goes in streaks. There's a bunch, and then its quiet for a while.

Me, I like to post a lot all at once, but like this time, I just come in, comment, then get back to some work that I'm doing.

Speaking of which, time to get back to that. Must finish this pilot TV show for you guys to read. You know I value your opinions! Take care.

And by the way, Sup PB? How ya been?

Later guys
