As of now, 12:01 pm (Mountain Daylight Time), there are 3,907,816 users on KaZaA. That's the most I've seen since the RIAA announced their little plans. It seems people are flocking back, whether it be because they aren't scared anymore, or they are fighting. Maybe both, but, in my eyes, it's good news.
And yes I know, this is the FT Network, but still, by watch it's user base you can kinda see what's going on in the p2p community. You know what I mean?

I think you just gotta take an avarage at every hour or something. People aren't leaving like theiy're claimed to be doing.

I wish people would leave Fasttrack and populate some of the other, better networks. (lol)
Good to see that folks are not running from the big bad **AA's though. This may be a long drawn out battle with lots of smaller wins and losses along the way before the final verdict is in.

i think FT is faster and more reliable for certain things :/
what you use the other networks for, i get from IRC so i don't need them. that's the situation i'm in.

Fasttrack does have it's uses, that is for sure. For number of files and speed, it is still hard to beat. It is just so full of fakes and viruses, and it is so closely monitored these days. The sooner all the legit files go to other really good but lesser known networks, like Ares, SoulSeek, Filetopia etc, it might be better for everybody. IMHO anyway. ;)

There is the place at which i find the problem. you said yourself: "lesser known." FT is not all that dangerous if you use it correctly. You stated some of the best aspects of it and that is why i use it. There's no real need for me to move to a different network when i can get what i need from the FT network. the others are used less and are harder to use (to obtain files quickly). Additionally, if everyone moved to one of the smaller networks, the RIAA and other organizations would just start eyeing those as well. No matter where you go, you'll be monitored, so you might as well stick with what works until it doesn;t work anymore :)

As long as you don't get executables, MP3's, or Full length movies off of fasttrack, you're good!
(Where do you think I got most of my episodes of Sealab 2021? :D)
(Note, I don't even have a FastTrack client installed anymore. I figured I could get the TV shows easily enough off of other networks.)

SoulSeek is probably the best network to get rare files from. I've actually been using it a lot lately. Not quite as fast as FT, but, it's also not crawling slow (imo). But I do frequently watch the user bases of p2p networks. It gives me something to do. :D

"Remember the time when you bought the $6 Million Man?"
"Hell yeah! ... ... ... Ohhhhhhh ... ... ... And then he ran away ... ... ... Ain't nobody catchin' him!"

Since the numbers initially dropped off I haven't seen any UK supernodes in KaZupernodes. It was useful for rarer british music.

you said yourself: "lesser known."
Lesser known doesn't = worse application. There are many apps that I find more than what I ever do on fasttrack. The last 6-8 files I downloaded from Fasttrack were all mislableld. I have gotten speeds on Ares for example that I seldom if ever got on fasttrack. The addage I frequently use is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you like Fasttrack and feel good about it, use it. For me, there are many better choices. :)
