Go to Start, Run, type in "services.msc" (Without the quotes).

Scroll down to "Messenger", right click, select properties, and choose Startup type "Disabled".

The problem is that the Messenger Alerts were meant to allow Network Administrators to alert users of the network to routine maintanance or whatnot, but it unfortunately allows Internet Spammers to randomly generate Pop-Up's to anybody with it enabled and connected to the internet...

Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.

Click Apply
Click OK

Windows NT

When I seen that someone had asked how to get rid of those annoying popups that claim they are do with with ms messenger , I had to check this out. These things have been pestering me constantly especially when I am playing a game online, thats when they get worse. My thanks go out to Mylo for posting the question and FrYGuY and Lion7718 for the answer . I hope this is the end of these popups for good. :urock:
