R.I.A.A. Expands Subpoena Campaign to Gnutella

In the most recent list of Subpoenas filed by the record industry, Gnutella has joined MP2P, and Fast Track. It is quickly becoming obvious that simply not using Kazaa, or another F.T. client will not be enough to guarantee your safety. Users of three different Gnutella clients appear on the newest list. BearShare, Shareaza, and LimeWire. User names of these individuals are not yet available however this breakdown is.

    Bearshare (13)
    Limewire (11)
    Shareaza (2)
Along with these new comers from the Gnutella network. 11 MP2P users and well over 1000 Fast Track users have had Subpoena’s files to reveal their identities. Anyone sharing is at risk the more you share, the more your risking. If you do still share you should take precautions like using Peer Guardian While not anywhere near 100% effective some protection is much better then none. Ride those waves, but be cautious friends.

It's only a matter of time before they hit Soulseek now. I hope all these threats dont stop people from sharing. If you stop sharing you are giving in. This is a fight we are in and we cant let the RIAA win.

you know, shutting down gnutella1 wouldn't be a bad thing. maybe it would actually force the gnutella developers to work together, instead of being at odds & blocking each others clients. then they could work on gnutella 2 or 3 & bring in more measures to make the RIAA's job alot harder.

Its only a matter of time before they have at least one or two useres from each network to show that they are looking everywhere

The thing is, since this all started, I've been running Soul Seek more than I had been.

Is it possible for users to get caught using a web-based program like GLT or MediaSeek? I read GLT is based in some obscure country, so getting shut down by the RIAA wouldn't be a problem.

Hm.. the company cant get shut down, and they couldnt get your IP just by browsing from you (at least, on glt poliane they keep a list of everyone's songs on the website, and so people just get the song list directly from the site, I believe), but Im pretty sure they could still get your IP once they actually start the transfer.

i guess he means we should take out hits on the RIAA execs, like I suggested in an earlier thread. I believe D-503 said he was willing?
