So they identify a username (and it's location most likely) after doing that they (the RIAA) "asks" the ISP to reveal the identity of the "trespasser" right? (to then proceed with legal action)

What if the person in question is in europe or japan? do they prossecute ppl living in the US only?

Well the "subpoenas" in this case are court orders from the R.I.A.A. to Internet Service providers that force them to turn over the name on the account with the I.P. that has been tagged for sharing a copyrighted item. I suspect all filed are U.S. based since they have to know they have no authority outside the states.

    Should I stop using shareza?

I do take extra precautions, like installing security lists and peergurdian. I don't know how effective this would be.

Are users in the UK affected by this?

I use torrents to now. If i want a movie or an album i use torrents. but for single mp3 downloads i just use google. Works fast and fine for me.

But these subpeonas are only going throught the US right.. So for now users in Aus are kinda safe.. Am i Right?
