Don't we already have a bunch of unemployed people here? i know every time I go to school I see a lot of men & women, in their 40's and 50's back in sachool, or in school for the first time, learning IT. I live in a town that until recently prided itself on employing generation after generation of the same families. Each company had a tagline to the effect "A Family business" (yup, that is from SC Johnson, and now that Sam has died, Iimagine it won't be so family--it bases all its American companies here. Case, TwinDisc, InSinkerator, etc, all laying off, locking out, etc.

Years ago we screamed about kids and adults in foreign companies working in sweat shops. Now we go looking for inexpensive overseas labor.

there are plenty of intelligent yet uneducated people in war torn countries that need sanctuary here. put them in school here and employ them. the thought of deportation back to a country you will probably get shot in would make a great incentive for ambition and low crime. Immigration law says 3rd felony and you're out. I am not against immigration, not at all. It makes america way more interesting I think. but let's do things a bit differently and take care of our own too.

I am just disgusted.

The reason we have no Techs is because you scared all of the college kids away from majoring in computer sciences when you laid off 100's of thousands so you could hire cheeper help in india. Now you want to bring the indians here? How brash can you be?

I was a CSIS major as of one year ago. Since then, I changed to English. Why? Because my professors were being laid off their normal jobs. What could be scarier? Devoting your life to a subject only to find you are no longer needed? I don't need that. So fuck you Gates.... again.
