Bitcomet Banned ---> emulate other client

    Hello,

I just want to say that some trackers ban bitcomet.

May be it would be nice a function like in G3 client that emulate other client like Azureus or Shadow, to allow us connect to this trackers that ban Bitcomet.

Perhaps if we address the reason WHY BitComet is banned, then servers may unban it. Just emulating other clients won't help anything because doing something like that will only blacken BC's reputation - thus worsening the situation.

Find out why BC is being banned and we can go from there.

It wont help, some trackers just dont respond to users wishes/questions

If BitComet does nothing wrong, why they can't add client emulation code?
If tracker bans BitComet for no reason, BitComet has a right to emulate other clients that users can connect to the trackers!

I asked the question about this ban of bitcomet, nobody have replied to the topic, just some other guys like me who don't understand this ban reason, and who don't want to use another client.

When you try to connect to this tracker you just get an error that say your client is not certified with this tracker, and invites you to use azureus or bittornado.

Okey, at least they have answered, it's about new rules on this tracker, it's about share ratio :

from 2004-11-1, this tracker will only support two kinds of client including BitTornado、Azureus, all the other clients will disable. It would be pleased to inform that you'd be better to change unsuitable client as soon as possible.

1.Rules of download(It might also adjust day in future)
If Share Ratio less than 0.3, that could not download the torrents which released within 72h.
If Share Ratio less than 0.5, that could not download the torrents which released within 48h.
If Share Ratio less than 0.8, that could not download the torrents which released within 12h.
If upload total amount less than 3GB, executes on first one(0.3).
If Share Ratio less than 0.1 and downloaded>3GB...... emn...it would be better find a wall and hit your head on^0^!

    2.Share ratio
For striking runners and improving statistic accurate of share ratio, Tracker will only support BitTornado、Azureus, others client will disable.
    relevant links:
    http://www.bittornado.com/
    http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

    3.Checking individual share ratio
Click your user name on index page. note: currently up/download wouldnot count in total amount unless logging out

I still think, that Bit Comet is innocent, so I highly recommed that they should add Client emulation quickly!

No, BC is not innocent. For many/all trackers, it reports a downloaded size of 0 bytes when you finish downloading. This, in turn, gives you infinite ratios. As is obvious, that's a bad thing.

I think that spoofing is probably one of the worst things that can be done... what needs to be fixed is the reported size.

So look at this, a spoof option in the new azureus 2.2.0.0 :

It seems that Azureus do it too now, but here the peer-string is not choosable like in G3, or may be my english is too bad and i haven't understood this option.

    You misunderstood the option.

It uses anonymous vaules for communication with other peers, but still uses standard AZ values for communication with the tracker.

Nowhere did I say it was a good idea for them to do it, either.

A few trackers that I use have banned BC as well and that makes my pants sad. 2 of the trackers allow me to see my stats and I can confirm that several torrents I've participated in list me as downloading 0 bytes and uploading the correct amount. For the trackers that take user participation seriously this is a big smack in the face.

I really hope this is fixed by the next release, and if any devs want help in trouble shooting it please drop me a PM. I'll do what I can. BC has made my computer usable again and I'll do what I can to keep it honest.
Whoever implemented the confirmation code for this forum kicks ass for giving me the idea to stop whore bots from spamming my forum. Thank you.

See? There's a problem with the client. Once this is fixed, I'm sure it will be fine. They want as many seeding peers as they can to get the transfer speeds up, so torrent site admin's would surely unban BC.

I will only send the links to the administrator of this site or to the bitcomet creator if they want.

I don't now if mailto:bitcomet@yahoo.com is the official contact.
