Read me before asking bittorrent related issues!

The following items are the most overlooked things people post about when having troubles

-Do you have the proper ports forwarded on your computer? This includes Router Firewall (Click HERE for help forwarding your router firewall.), Software Firewall, and SP2 Firewall?

-Are you using a port in the 50000-60000? (See Above for help forwarding ports)

-Do you have Encryption turned on in your client? (See THIS article for the how-to on many different torrent clients)

-Is your ISP throttling P2P traffic? - Is your ISPs name on THIS list?

-Do you have a STATIC IP

-Are you using the newest(non-beta) version of the client?

-Are you using a popular client like utorrent, Bit Comet, or Azureus? *I am not saying they are better the others, they are just the most popular ones and easer to diagnostic problems with*

Answering all these questions, 99% of the time will solve your problems.

Im open to any suggestions you may have, If you have anything you think I should add, eaither send me a PM or just post in the thread!

I know some of the Quoting I am doing is a post or two down from the origional, but eventually it will pay off when there are two or three pages of comments

Thankyou to everyone in advance for contributing to this thread.

maybe you could add something about the faqs and guides available here on p2pforums. these are the ones i usually recommend for bitcomet:
