Hi guys,
I'm also having problem with zonealarm. After a while it lockups both BC and my computer. Does any one of you have the same problem? With BC0.57 it worked fine but now tih BC0.60 it keep crashing.

I'll admit i am new to Bit commet but noyt to bittorrent in general. Ther are a few things i am wandering though. First of all is the allocation of disk space this can be a pain making you restart torrents an download them all over specially if you want to be able to switch applications at will. I know ther is a check box but it doesn not work i know it was said this is to help with fragmentation but for those that want to be safeand able to use other aps and not worrying about fragmentation they shoul be allowed to tur the Auto Allocation off since it fools other apps into thinking the file size is too large and thus it must be curupt and they wont download it.
Another thing is how can you tell if your downloading or seeding?

Not sure if 5.0 possibly has a bug, but I always hear complaints on every version of this excellent firewall. I'm running the newest with no problems. I did have one at first and it's pretty simple once you learn a few of ZA's strange settings. Open the ZA console, if you've already allowed the programs and their modules server access. Click the firewall tab. Click the main tab. You should see a security slider for Internet and Trusted Zones both of which I keep on high(stealth mode). But click the advanced button below it to reveal a few settings that could be bugging you. First of all, make sure the block trusted zone servers and block internet zone servers boxes are not checked. I think internet one is by default. If you allowed a program server access, it will still be clocked from server access if these boxes are checked. If you set both to high, check allow outgoing DNS/DHCP requests in the Trusted Zone at high setting and set your DNS server in the trusted zone. Excellent setup because it reduces the chance malware will use its own DNS to redirect you or secretly download stuff you don't want to your pc. Do not allow DNS/DHCP for internet zone as everything is in that zone by default, which is why to put your isp/'s DNS server in trusted zone. I also prefer to check lock hosts ffile button so things can't randomly block your P2P hosts by adding a block to the hosts file.
Hey saw this thread talked about on the BitComet web site.
I can assure you ZoneAlarm does affect BitComet and every other P2P software. This started after version 5 well over a year ago and the folks at Zone Labs still have not changed anything.
Not only Zone Alarm does this but many other main stream firewall software. I think it's a feature to not allow too many TCP connections/packets.
Out of my personal experience of testing every single firewall sotware I could find I have found that Sygate Personal Firewall is the best to use if you actively use P2P clients. Not only for downloading but for games to as it's simple, powerful, and uses very little system resources.
