I see a lot of bullshit here!
Whats that about how many seeds and blabla!
we know all that, tellme why this fucking software download at 3 kb web ABC goes up to 45!
Piece of shit
Well it sounds as if many have there firewalls and routers and upload speed properly configured
but to make sure you can go to a thread I started and there is a link there to test to make sure you really do have the listening port open and confirm that you have all hardware/firewall configured properly.I accidentally posted as a guest I thimk it is the 3rd one or so.
I have the proper configuration and I still had download speeds of around 20kbps but I achieved much higher by increasing the Max connections to a much higher number.
You can see pictures in the same thread that i referred to above.I was hoping to kind of centralize the discussion for people who have everything set up properly but are still getting slow speeds (sorry to hijack the thread).
You will have to skim past the stuff on security(stuff I really wanted to get out there) and get to the part on optimization.I wish some experts would weigh in on what is really happening when it comes to the bittorrent protocol and bit comet because I am not sure that setting everything to auto works best all the time. Here is the link to the thread.

Everyone in this string is talking in terms of kbps, BC deals with KBps. I assume that BC is dealing in KB not Kb since the "B" is upper case.
You guys know that when BC shows 3kBps, you're getting 24kbps. 8 bits-1 Byte so 3kB = 24kb. I
I thought I was getting crappy speeds too, but I'm actually getting 40KB/s overall which = 320 kb/s (not bad).
That is the way I understand it.
Either way u slice it if your getting 80-150 kB/s with another client and with bit comet you are only getting 20 kB/s with same set up and same torrent something isnt right.I think some people are maybe using the wrong acronym but in these days of cable adsl fiber optic connections I think most people kind of know what there talking about. Maybe you are child from the age of dial up![]()
Anyways a hundred centimetres isnt more than 10 decimitres even tho it may sound like more(sorry if your stateside non metric system and all)
Check firewalls and port forwarding settings make sure you can get remote connections to the port used by bitcomet.Originally Posted by Anonymous
Go to http://www.grc.com and do the shields up test entering your bitcomet listening port into the custom port test while bitcomet is running.
It should say failed and tell you the port is open. If not there is something blocking the port either firewalls or incorrectly configured routers and so on.
If it is open and you still get awful speeds consider that the number of seeds and peers in the swarm can be the main determinant of the dl speed you will attain.
Also and very importantly if you are leeching i.e. not uploading to the bittorrent swarm you will be punished by very slow downloads it is the way the protocol works.
Try to upload as much as you can. Ideally everyone will do this and the speeds will be high.
Also when asking for help try to give more detail like Network setup OS etc it helps people diagnose the problem rather than have them play 20 guesses.
Hi!1 first of all I have to say that my biggest problem with bit torrent is to assign the right upload/donwload rate, can you give me a hint? my internet conection is 512 kb and I 'm getting download rates of 12KB/s and upload rates of 25KB/sis there any way I can fix this from the program itself?
thanks
hi
I would just like to say that Im using BC for about a month now and the speed on a well seeded file is usualy around 90- 120 kb/s. I love that client.
wow!! no words of advice?![]()
Before I got my network set up, I was going well over 100KB/s with Bitcomet. After I networked my computeres, opened different ports, etc. I find that I'm downloading at 20KB/s on average. If I'm fortunate, it will go up to 60KB/s for a couple of minutes then it will drop all the way back down to 5KB/s and goes back up again like a roller coaster ride. It was never like that before, what's going on? HELP!
no! when they set their ul limit very low, they won't get a good dl speed also in bt.
maybe you need to configure your port forforwarding, go to bt's official website, there is a turorial for how to port forforward in routers.
Maybe you forgot to disable your window's firewall or configure it.Originally Posted by demestav
Asumming your upload speed is 256kb/s then set your upload limit to 20-23kB/s.Originally Posted by Anonymous
Alternatively you could try something like cfos speed and have no limits.
