Trying to download movies
I have downloaded files of 20-30MB or about 20 minutes of video in 45-60 minutes without using Bitcomet so why can't I download at a reasonable rate? When I put in a movie file it has the same download as upload the whole time and it never gets higher than 10KB/s when these other files I've downloaded at 20KB/s.

Hi,
First off, you don't provide any vital (but very basic) information about your client and/or setup, the likes of...
- What version of BitComet do you use?
- Do you, in fact, use a router (make and model)? Have you forwardded your listen port?
- What version of Windows are you using?
- Firewall(s)? Antivirus?
When you state that you have downloaded...
about 20 minutes of video in 45-60 minutes without using Bitcomet
Did you do this via another bittorrent client or was it a 'direct' download?
Bittorrent doesn't work in the same way as you may be used to. You (or, rather, your client) will connect to other users' computer, just like yours, whose connections are just like yours, and not to some central server. The speed that you will obtain, is very much dependant on how well-configured your own client is (see our Settings Guide and Speed Guide, regardless of the version... the basics are the same for all), how attractive a trading partner you appear to be, and the composition of the particular swarm, at the time at which you connect to it. All of these factors are relevant, to your uploading and downloading speed.
I would also suggest that you visit the FAQs, where you will find answers to many oft-asked queries.
If, after going through all of these, you still have doubts, come back here - but, please, provide as much detailed information (speed tests' results, which tutorials/Guides you have followed, your present settings, etc.) as possible. Too much is preferred to not enough.

And before you dive into that list, especially part 3, it's important to understand: if you do not have a router, then you don't have anything to forward a port on. No router, no port forwarding, doesn't concern you, don't bother going to portforward.com, nothing there applies to you.
Some people waste hours on this because they don't understand that point.

This might help:
To better utilize the bandwidth of TCP connections ( in these situations,) the Next Generation TCP/IP stack includes Compound TCP (CTCP). CTCP more aggressively increases the send window for connections with large receive window sizes and BDPs.
CTCP attempts to maximize throughput on these types of connections by monitoring delay variations and losses.
In addition, CTCP ensures that its behavior does not negatively impact other TCP connections.
In testing performed internally at Microsoft, large file backup times were reduced by almost half for a 1Gbps connection with a 50ms RTT.
Connections with a larger BDP can have even better performance. CTCP and Receive Window Auto-Tuning work together for increased link utilization and can result in substantial performance gains for connections with large BDPs.
CTCP is enabled by default in computers running Windows Server "Longhorn" and disabled by default in computers running Windows Vista and XP.
You can enable CTCP with the --> netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp ( from command prompt. )
You can disable CTCP with the --> netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=none" ( from command prompt )
