Ares doesn't search anymore.

This is the first time I have ever encounted this problem. So now when I search it just will not look for anything. Sure it says that it is searching but it really doesn't. I can type in any name at all in any section but it will not search. I can leave the search running for days and still it will not find one single thing. How can I fix this? I am using the latest version and I am running windows XP. This search problem originally occurred during an older version and it still happens even on the latest.
